Radio Hotel opened in Washington Heights in 2021 and is architecturally the most striking new hotel in Manhattan — a stack of brightly coloured boxes by Studio Gang, visible for blocks along Broadway. It was built as part of a mixed-use project with retail and public space at its base.
Rooms are compact but bright and well designed. The location is genuinely far north — the A train express to Midtown takes about twenty-five minutes — but the rates are among the lowest in Manhattan and the Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park are a short walk.

Where it sits
The narrow top of Manhattan, high enough above the Hudson that the streets get genuinely steep. Washington Heights is dense, Dominican, loud in the good way, and home to the single strangest and best museum in the city at the Cloisters. Room rates here are among the lowest on the island. The A train runs express and gets you to Midtown faster than you would expect from the map.
