What ModernHaus SoHo actually is
ModernHaus reopened on Grand Street in 2021 after a full reworking of the former James Hotel, taking its design cues from Bauhaus and mid-century modernism. The interiors are clean-lined and warm rather than austere, with a substantial art collection distributed through the building.
The rooftop has a pool and a bar with wide views across SoHo's low-rise roofline toward downtown — one of the better rooftop positions in the neighbourhood, because there is very little tall building around it. Rooms have floor-to-ceiling glass and good bathrooms. SoHo's shopping and the restaurants of Tribeca and Chinatown are all a short walk away.
