What Refinery Hotel actually is
The Refinery occupies a 1912 hat factory in the Garment District, and the conversion kept the industrial bones: exposed brick, steel columns, factory windows and blackened metal fittings throughout. Rooms are loft-proportioned with high ceilings, unusual for this part of Midtown.
The Refinery Rooftop is the standout — a partly enclosed glasshouse bar with a terrace pointed directly at the Empire State Building, four blocks south. Bryant Park and the New York Public Library are a two-minute walk east.
