What New York Hilton Midtown actually is
The New York Hilton Midtown is the biggest hotel in the city by room count, occupying a full block of Sixth Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets. It opened in 1963 and has hosted an unusual number of historically significant events, including Beatles press conferences and a long run of political conventions and summits.
Scale is both the drawback and the point. The lobby and event floors are enormous and can feel impersonal, but the location is genuinely excellent — Rockefeller Center, MoMA, Radio City and Central Park are all within a few minutes' walk, and the B, D, E and F lines stop at the door. Rooms are contemporary and well-maintained, with the Executive Lounge floors offering a calmer experience.
