What The High Line Hotel actually is
The High Line Hotel occupies part of the General Theological Seminary on Tenth Avenue at 20th Street, a Gothic Revival complex from the 1890s that spent most of its life as clergy housing. The conversion left the brickwork, the arched windows and the leafy courtyard largely alone.
It is one of the quietest and most unusual hotels in Manhattan — the courtyard is a genuine walled garden with mature trees, which is close to unheard of in Chelsea. Rooms are furnished with antiques and vintage pieces rather than a hotel scheme. The High Line runs past a block west, and the Chelsea gallery district is immediately north.
